Our History
In 2006 the Finland South Africa Association (FSAA) called for an organization to manage a new initiative that would provide training and mentoring support to emerging micro entrepreneurs throughout South Africa. The strategic objective of the program was to create and administer a business support program that would focus on the development of micro enterprises and that would nurture their growth from the informal to formal market.
In 2007, the FSAA organization selected The Greater Stellenbosch Development Trust (GSDT) to administer this important initiative and initiated the Micro MBA to aspiring business owners. The classroom training was followed by mentoring sessions.
In 2010 it was recognized that more work was needed around the development of entreprneurship and that the Micro MBA programme should offer a greater varieity of training, mentoring, and coaching support, in order to effectively develop a mindset shift around entrepreneurship. The result was the founding of a new organization called Stellenbosch Entrepreneur and Enterprise Development (SEED).
What We Do
SEED is dedicated to entrepreneurial development, business growth and making a positive contribution to the forward motion of the South African economy.
We have assisted over 1,000 entrepreneurs with various business resource support services that include business training and mentoring, business plan assistance, directives towards funding and capital, and feasibility studies.
Our Community
SEED is based in Kayamandi and serve the greater Stellenbosch area, as well as selected communities in the Western Cape. Our areas of service have a very high unemployment rate, leading to an array of social issues. Our programs assist entrepreneurs and economic freedom seekers to become self-sustainable, to create jobs and to contribute to the economic development of the region.
